The Virginia Beach health insurance market includes 433,000 residents and offers about five to six respected health insurance companies to choose from. East Coast Health Insurance recommends running your own Virginia Beach health insurance quote right here on this site, where you can compare and apply online all by yourself for a great, affordable plan.
We offer Aetna, AARP, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Virginia, Coventry, United Health One, and Optima Health Insurance, and depending on your age and zip code any of them could be the most affordable for you and your family.
So, to make things easier on you, I picked a single plan from all five companies that was as similar as possible and also the type of plan that most Virginia health insurance shoppers prefer. I ran a quote in Virginia Beach for a 59-year-old male with a deductible of $2,500 and a maximum out-of-pocket including deductible, copays, and coinsurance of at most $5,500, I also made sure each plan included office visits and prescription coverage before the deductible. Blue Cross and Optima made my job a little more difficult as their pricing and plans were totally different from the other three companies. Not to worry, I was able to dissect it for you. Here are the results with my recommendations:
AARP – Premier $2500 Deductible Plan – $409 – Only available for people over 55, and though not the most affordable plan here, if you have complicated medical conditions, AARP will usually accept you with the lowest rate up. Never rule them out.
United Health One – Copay Select 2500 – $406 – Middle of the road pricing, but doesn’t hold a candle to the other companies here. If there are medical issues certainly throw an application in with them but otherwise stick to Blue Cross, AARP, or Optima Health.
Aetna PPO 2500 – $499 – Aetna offers AARP plans in Virginia so their pricing is skewed for the over-55 demographic. Very affordable in the under-55 group and the most trustworthy company here, period. What do I mean? They have never rescinded a policy on any of customers.
Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield – KeyCare Flexible Choice – $397 – Probably the best choice for the majority of Virginia health insurance shoppers. This particular plan has 0 coinsurance which means that when actually compared to the other companies on this page the price is significantly cheaper. The most you will spend in a year with this plan is your deductible. Great plan, go for it always as your first choice.
Optima Health – Optima Plus 25/1000 – $416.08 – I love HMOs and this plan has only a $1000 deductible and is just as good as Blue Cross Blue Shield, but in my mind better because most of the benefits that they offer are before the deductible. If your physicians accept this plan it is an excellent choice.
