Indiana health insurance is pretty easy! There are only four main Indiana health insurance companies in Indiana and one of them Aetna has only a limited selection of health plans. My recommendation? The Blue Cross Blue Shield plans are the usually the best bet in terms of price and benefits. However, many people are happy with Humana and United Health One (I have United Health One myself!)
For the uninsured in Indiana there is always the Indiana Comprehensive Health Insurance Association (ICHIA). This high risk plan is available to HIPAA eligible individuals and those who have had previously been declined with individual health insurance plans. Additionally, if you have been rated up for health insurance or find the high risk plans available in Indiana to be more affordable than the individual plans you can also elect to take the Indiana high risk health plans.
The other good news in Indiana health insurance is that individual health insurance companies cannot impose permanent riders on or exclude coverage for a condition for longer than 12 months. The Indiana Department of Insurance can be reached at 317-232-2385. Medicaid (and Hoosier Healthwise) in Indiana can be contacted at 800-889-9949.
Indiana Sample Health Insurance Quote
So I ran some quotes below for a 34 year old single male in the Indianapolis health insurance market. I tried to use a deductible of $2500 and a maximum out of pocket of no more than $5000, but due to the variety of plans available, not to mention the affordability (excluding Aetna) of all the companies I threw in some additional Blue Cross plans to make your life even more complicated!
Basically the choice below is quite simple, Blue Cross Blue Shield! The only question is which Indianapolis health insurance plan is appetizing enough to buy? I would go with the Premier Plan from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Indiana due to the outstanding benefits and affordability of the plan.
Humana, United, and Aetna exist but only for those few individuals that are either turned down by Blue Cross or that have recevied a very high rate increase from the individual Blue Cross plans. For your own individual health insurance quote please visit our Indiana health insurance quote engine.
