Health Alliance Medical Plans is headquartered in Urbana, IL, and has been in business since 1980. Consistently since 1997, Health Alliance has held an Excellent accreditation (the highest possible) from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for its HMO, POS and Medicare plans, which is quite an accomplishment and testament to high standards. They were also ranked the top health plan in Illinois, and ranked 35th in the nation, by the NCQA’s Health Insurance Plan Rankings for their Commercial HMO/POS product. If these were not enough evidence to their success as a company and a reliable product, Health Alliance has an excellent network of providers, which includes 13,000 physicians and providers, and more than 150 hospitals across the Midwest.
My Health Alliance is the individual health plan from this carrier, which offers HMO and PPO plans in a variety of designs. Choose from a high deductible plan with an HSA, or a flexible PPO that gives you more coverage initially. HMO plans give you the ability to use more medical services upfront and save money with copayments for most every service. Each plan comes with the ability to have no prescription coverage or one of two options with tiered copays.
My Health Alliance Plans
These plans are ideal for those who feel comfortable in one network of providers and want the option of having more coverage upfront. Within the HMO, you will choose a primary care provider to coordinate your care and provide referrals to specialists. These plans are the most comprehensive, as they do not include a deductible to meet. All care is offered upfront for a copay, and many preventive services are free. For other services, members pay either 20 or 30 percent coinsurance. For the freedom and peace of mind to use any service you need for a low cost, these plans are ideal.
PPO plans are also quite comprehensive, and cover 80 or 100 percent of your medical costs depending on the plan you choose. Non-network care is also covered at 50 percent with every PPO plan. My Health Alliance has constructed a great PPO plan, with affordable copays for emergency care, ambulance services, and office visits, making it a great plan for those who want coverage and freedom. With a range of deductibles, you can find a plan that fits your budget and still provides numerous services.
Qualified high deductible plans from My Health Alliance offer broad coverage and low monthly premiums. Like the PPO plans, QHDHP plans cover 80 or 100 percent after deductible. As these are HSA plans, you pay everything out of pocket until your deductible is met, and can do so with money from a tax-advantaged health savings account. These plans give members access to free preventive care and a large number of services both in- and out-of-network.
