Key West, Florida Health Insurance Sample Quote

In order to demonstrate the plans offered and premiums on the island, a sample health quote was run for a 40-year-old, non-smoking male resident of the city of Key West. We have chosen a $2,500 deductible, as it usually is a great level for plans with a vast number of benefits for a reasonable monthly premium. We have also selected plans from each company that offer first-dollar benefits such as a copayment for non-preventive doctor’s office visits and prescription drugs. Each of these plans covers preventive care in full as soon as your plan starts as well.

The most affordable premium rate for this set of criteria is $186 per month for the Cigna Open Access Value Plan, with primary care doctor’s office visits for a $40 copay. These PPO plans offer 80% coverage after you meet the deductible on in-network major medical care. Prescriptions are also available with generics as soon as your plan starts for $15, and brand names available after a $500 pharmacy deductible. Additional benefits include outpatient mental health care at 20% coinsurance. An additional deductible of $500 is also set for inpatient hospital stays.

UnitedHealthOne offers the next lowest premium at $211 per month for their Copay Select Value plan. UnitedHealthOne has one of the largest provider networks in the nation, which makes it completely worth the cost to enroll in one of their plans. These plans are typically low for monthly rates, and also offer both primary care and specialist office visits for a $35 copayment. The Copay Select Value plan only covers generic prescriptions (for a $15 copay), which may not be too large a sacrifice for those who prefer to save money and use the less expensive version of a medication.  After you meet the deductible, your plan covers 70% of hospital services.

For a few more dollars per month, Aetna offers their Open Access Managed Choice plan at $223 per month for this client. OAMC plans have been reviewed highly by plan members due to Aetna’s fantastic customer service and wide selection of doctors in-network. With physician’s office visits for a $35 copay for primary care instantly when your plan begins, the OAMC PPO plan offers more than sufficient coverage. All levels of prescription medications are available once you meet the separate deductible of $500, though generics are immediately offered for $15. In-network coinsurance for hospital care is 25% after deductible.

In the same range also falls Celtic, though their Florida network does not include as much variety as United or Aetna. These plans do provide coverage for up to two PCP and specialist visits for a $30 copayment, as well as generic prescriptions for immediate benefits. There is also 80% coverage on hospital services including vision benefits after you meet the deductible. HumanaOne, though the most costly per month at $279 for this individual, offers a great Florida network and doctor’s office visits for a $35 copay. Once you have met the deductible, your out-of-pocket will be 20% of the full service fee.
