Coventry was founded over 25 years ago when Coventry Corporation was incorporated on November 21, 1986. Coventry Health Care, Inc. then became a public company in 1991, and currently provides a wide array of services ranging from individual health insurance to workers compensation to more than 5 million members in all 50 states. The Coventry One family of brands is currently available in 24 states, offering individual and family coverage to hundreds of thousands of members. With regional Coventry Health Care companies in each state of operation, Coventry also goes by the names Altius Health Plans in the Western United States, and HealthAmerica in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Coventry was purchased by Aetna in 2012, and in 2013 all Coventry members will be insured by Aetna.
The Coventry National Network
In addition to their ever-extending network that currently includes 4,700 hospitals, 580,000 professional providers and 64,000 pharmacies; Coventry continues to offer cost-effective options while maintaining low out of pocket costs for the policy holder and robust member benefits.
Although plans vary by state, many plans offer first dollar benefits. This essentially means that from the first date of coverage you can go to a doctor and have a physical covered with a copay of $30, or an emergency room visit with a $150 copay, instead of being responsible to pay your contract year deductible before having medical benefits covered with just a copay.
Comprehensive medical benefits covered in Coventry’s insurance plans include, but are not limited to, preventive care services, hospitalization, emergency care, prescription drug coverage, outpatient diagnostic and surgery care, skilled nursing, and hospice care. You’ll find that one of the advantages Coventry offers are the various plan options in which seemingly tailor made to better meet your specific needs, for instance plans offer 80/20, 70/30, or 100% coinsurance options on many of their plans.
In addition to these benefits available through Coventry’s individual and group health insurance plans, you can also review your particular state’s plan benefit summaries in which will offer a more comprehensive listing of covered benefits.
We are adding new pages everyday so if you don’t see your state in our list yet you can go to your specific states health insurance page and read about all the health insurance companies in your state.
