How can Blue help you? By providing you
with simple, comprehensive and affordable
health care solutions that meet your needs. At
Blue, we understand that you want to spend
your health care dollars efficiently and
effectively, and we recognize that you want
maximum control over the way you use your
benefits. That's why we designed BlueSelect.
BlueSelect offers a wide range of insurance
plans with lower premiums (up to 20% less)
than similar plan designs, plus added cost
savings if you use our community-based, local
network for certain medical services.
Depending upon your plan, benefits start from
the first dollar you spend on routine health
care and adult/child wellness, and includes
lab services, hospital charges and all covered
physician services when a hospital stay is
required. BlueSelect also covers outpatient
therapies, maternity services and prescription
drugs without network restrictions.
There are certain ancillary services (DME
and Supplies, Mental Health, Lab, Home Health
Care) that require using an Exclusive Provider
in order to receive In Network coverage. If an
Exclusive Provider is not used, there will be
no coverage for those services. Also, for
prescription drugs, in order to receive
in-network coverage you must go to a
BlueSelect Retail or Specialty Pharmacy. This
program provides coverage at both
participating and non-participating
pharmacies, but you'll pay less out of your
pocket if you choose a participating pharmacy.
Special Note:
Prior authorizations are required for certain
prescription specialty drugs and for Advanced
Imaging services.
In addition to comprehensive BlueSelect
benefits, you'll have access to valuable
wellness programs, decision support programs
and other tools designed to keep you healthy
and informed – at no extra cost. Members can
also take advantage of discounts for things
like hearing aids and fitness clubs through
our Blue Complements program. Choose from a
variety of plan options, including predictable
cost plans, low cost plans and limited benefit
plans with different deductibles, copayments
and coinsurance levels.
