WASHINGTON (AP) – The liberal online media movement MoveOn.org is opposing the Senate health care bill on the grounds that this “legislation has no government-run insurance option and no expansion of Medicare.
They went on to add that, “American needs real health care reform – not a massive giveaway to the insurance companies.” and tries to incite the more liberal Senators to basically block the bill from being voted upon until its amended to match any kind of real or substantial health reform.
Amazingly, this bill has turned off both parties with the only supporters of it being those people that don’t know about it enough. But on the other hand, this change though seemingly listless and contra-effective, actually at least keeps the ball rolling. While on the other a plain old defeat will set health reform even further back, not to mention sink the reputations of the entire Democratic party.
I am merely telling it like it is as I am simply amazed where we are at with this situation, and moreover I have no answers except to agree with MoveOn and our own FCAN.org. But to do nothing again might be just as defeating to both our economy and those that suffer from lack of medical care. For my part, however I give up in the sense that this bill is not redeemable at all and further sullies the reputation of the people in Washington that allowed us to get here while the health care industry continues to grow while the majority of Americans get and less and less able to afford this growth.
