Large corporations have begun raising an eyebrow to the proposed healthcare reform. The Business Roundtable as they are known is somewhat akin to your modern day knights of the roundtable. Instead of swords they have pens, personal assistants over horses, and suits in regards to chainmail (alright maybe they aren’t really as similar but that’s really the first image that came up). Carrying on, as noted in yesterdays blog, “CEO’s Bailing On Bill” it could end up costing the Business Roundtable much more in the long run, specifically in regards to taxes that are levied on them by the government.
Had a few more thoughts about this overnight, in particular the addition to the possibility that lowering employees wages in the wake of being taxed heavily, will cost further lay-offs is inevitable. The Roundtable has a lot riding on the line in the coming days, and it may be too late for them to make any really impact or sway any sort of vote on such short notice unless they really get financially behind this.
Perhaps redirecting some of their advertising dollars to lobbyists into a directed campaign could force enough pressure to sway public opinion to stop this bill. Considering the amount they already have on the line, might be time to have King Arthur take a step back from the table, and put his men into action. Afterall, Arthur we are talking about a man who defined good against evil, never-ending struggle between what is right and that which is wrong. Certainly, the healthcare reform appears to be wrong for this modern day Roundtable.
