Health insurance in Georgia is actually typical of the United States in general, in that the same companies are available in Georgia as in much of the country. We have the traditional Aetna, Humana, United, and Cigna plans for individuals and families in Georgia.

The other carriers you will find in our Georgia Health Insurance quote section would include the excellent HMO from Kaiser Permanente, and Coventry, which as always offers the best health insurance in Georgia for the lowest premium, period.  In my initial Georgia health insurance research I was not surprised to find that Georgia, like Florida, is dominated in the price category by Coventry who do not skimp on the health coverage either to offer the lowest premiums in Georgia. Obviously, the other carriers will be discussed more in the general health insurance section, though I wanted to highlight these three companies because they are uniquely Georgian.

Georgia Health Insurance: An Essential Part of Life

Are you shopping for Georgia health insurance coverage? Well, you’re definitely in the right state! Studies show that your state is well above the national average when it comes to the number of practicing physicians and nurses. While there were 943,499 physicians and licensed nurses privately employed nationally in 2006, Georgia’s number was 55,858.  And for every 1,000 citizens, there were 2.9 hospital beds available. So, if you or your family has a medical need, you won’t have to look far for quality healthcare!

Kaiser Permanente of Georgia

Kaiser Permanente: The Most Benefits in Georgia

The company that catches my eye upon my first glance is the Georgia HMO plan from Kaiser Permanente, which is the most benefit rich plan in the state of Georgia health insurance. Much like Vista health plan in South Florida, it has very comprehensive HMO benefits which are difficult if not impossible for a PPO to mimic, though Georgia Blue Cross certainly does come close. View all your options from Kaiser Permanente on our quote engine, or call us should you desire more health insurance plan options from this great company.

The Kaiser HMO plan Kaiser Permanente, the largest nonprofit health plan in the United States, serves 8.7 million members in nine states and the District of Columbia. Kaiser Permanente is composed of Kaiser Foundation Health Plans (nonprofit, public-benefit corporations), the Permanente Medical Groups (for-profit professional organizations), and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals (a nonprofit, public-benefit corporation). Kaiser Foundation Hospitals are not available in all coverage areas, however.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia

Georgia Blue Cross Blue Shield: The Most Popular Plan in Georgia

Additionally in Georgia, the main health insurance company that is certainly the most popular by far is the plan from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia is truly a standout plan, and having done so much business in Florida, I can tell you unequivocally that the Georgia Blue Cross Blue Shield is more enticing in nearly every way. Firstly, the Georgia Blue Cross Blue Shield plan offers a complete line of products and is not content to rest on its past achievements.

In fact, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia might in my opinion be the most advanced health insurance company in the United States. That is a big complement from me, who considers health insurance to be a very unfair and unkind business altogether. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia (BCBSGA) is one of the largest and oldest health benefits providers in Georgia; insuring nearly one-third of Georgia’s population. They also make up a decent size employer in Georgia, and actually employ more than 3,000 people, who in turn contribute millions of dollars to the local economy.

Coventry One: The Most Georgia Health Insurance for the Least Money

Coventry is focused on creating a health plan that serves the needs of its members, while surpassing the competition in financial strength, customer service, an exceptional line of products, offering a broad provider selection, and overall, being innovative in every aspect of their company. They have been so successful in providing great services and products for truly reasonable prices throughout a variety of markets that Aetna decided to buy the company and will now administer all Coventry plans.

I just think they are the best health insurance plan for the least amount of money. They are amazingly comprehensive for a PPO network and can compete with HMO’s in terms of benefits and premiums.  If I didn’t know better I would think they were government subsidized as they are truly that affordable in Georgia health insurance.

Aetna Georgia: Affordable Health Insurance

Aetna Health Insurance in Georgia is one of the top health insurance companies in the country, so of course it is important to cover it in Georgia health insurance, as well. Aetna health plans, as one of the leading companies in the country, can be trusted to be picked as your health insurance company without even comparing the other health plans in Georgia.

However, because pricing can be so different from zip code to zip code, as well as across the different population demographics, it is important to compare all plans and pick the one that gives you the most Georgia health insurance for the least money. Humana

Humana One: Strong Coverage in Georgia

Humana One offers Georgia residents an array of options for individual and family health insurance coverage. Connected to a large PPO network of providers, Humana One gives you the option of copay plans, comprehensive coverage with qualified services covered in full after deductible, and HSA plans. Though premiums can be high, their customer service is fantastic, and their plans have received consistently positive feedback from members.

Pricing is competitive for most demographics throughout the state of Georgia with Humana One plans. Their premium rates compare to United Health One and other companies very closely. Residents of the state can choose from PPO or HSA plans with various deductibles, all of which include preventive care with no waiting period as soon as the benefits take effect. Most Humana One plans in Georgia offer the option of an incentive wellness program, providing rewards for being healthy and reaching your health goals.
